Please join Juror, Michael Strand at the reception on August 23rd, 4-6pm with the awards ceremony at 5pm. The ceremony will be held in the Paramount Lobby.
Through the power of artistic expression, many of society’s deepest assumptions can be challenged. Visual Art has the unique ability to show an issue in a different way than we might see on the news or online. The creative expression of an individual can cut through complacency and apathy, inspire political actions, facilitate dialogues, empower individuals and communities, and stimulate social change. Art as a Catalyst for Social Change is currently exhibiting works of art that engage critical thinking and raise consciousness to explore any social issue; from discrimination and human rights, to healthcare and the environment.  The hope is to explore the issues that make this world less than utopic, and use this new knowledge to create change.
