Tuesday, February 12, 2013 we will have the opportunity to learn about the History of Art Photography from Minneapolis-based photographer Timothy G. Piotrowski. Timothy discuss the works of practitioners of art photography from its inception to the present and its relationship and influence on his own works.

In particular the inspiration he draws from artists who pioneered the use of the camera as a means for creative expression, such as O.G.Rejlander, Julia Margaret Cameron, Lady Clementina Hawarden, and Charles Dodgeson (aka Lewis Carroll).

Tim’s photographs have been exhibited at various galleries and museums around the Twin Cities. The Hennepin History Museum hosted a major exhibition of his work from October 2007 through June 2008. In addition to his career as an artist, Timothy is a senior security guard at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, and he has consistently donated photographs to Art Perchance.

His latest works illustrate the history of clothing design over a 150 year period. Timothy G. Piotrowski is a fiscal year 2011 recipient of an Artist Initiative grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board.

Please join the St. Cloud Friends of the Minneapolis Institute of Arts in welcoming Timothy G. Piotrowski at the Le St. Germain Suite Hotel in downtown St. Cloud (remember to park as a hotel guest and have your parking ticket validated at the front desk). We will have a cash bar beginning at 6 p.m.. A dinner of roasted salmon, fennel fingerling potato ragout, lemon buerre blanc, garden salad, fresh vegetable, dinner rolls, coffee, and water at 7 p.m., followed by the program.The cost is $25.
