The Stearns History Museum & Research Center will celebrate its 75th anniversary with a fundraiser headlined by Don Shelby on Wednesday, April 18th, 5:30 p.m. - 9 p.m. at the Gorecki Dining & Conference Center in St. Joseph. Don Shelby, a Peabody and Emmy award-winning anchor and reporter, will discuss his illustrous career as an investigative journalist. The event also includes a social hour, dinner, and live and silent auctions. All proceeds will benefit the Museum's education programs. Also, the first annual Zapp Historian award will be presented to its namesake, Ed Zapp. The award is the first to be presented to a person or an organization that has contributed significantly to the awareness and preservation of community history and culture. Mr. Zapp was the Museum’s president from 1974-1985 and was a driving force in reviving and sustaining the Stearns County Historical Society. His energetic leadership led to the construction of a state of the art history museum in 1984 which is now the only nationally accredited history museum in greater Minnesota.
