Pioneer Place on Fifth Theatre is so very happy to present one of our all-time favorite performers, Martin Zellar and The Hardways on Wednesday, February 22nd at 7:30pm This time around we are offering a special package that includes a Meet & Greet with Martin, a signed copy of his new CD, and VIP seating!
Critically acclaimed for his riveting portrayals of real-life drama, singer-songwriter Martin gracefully continues on a musical path he began while leading the legendary Gear Daddies. Martin has since moved on, leaving the drunken nights behind, but holding on to the stories, memories and faces that flow through his most memorable work. Martin's performances transcend the labels of rock or country and settle warmly into the category of fine, well crafted songwriting.
Immediately after graduating from Austin high school, Martin moved to Minneapolis and formed the country-rock band the Gear Daddies with friends and fellow Austinites Nick Ciola, Billy Dankert and Randy Broughten. The Gear Daddies had some success, a lot of fun, and considered themselves lucky to have been part of the 1990’s Twin Cities music scene. They amicably parted ways in 1992.
Martin went on to record and perform as a solo artist and with his band the Hardways. That’s what he continues to do, and he still has fun. He also drinks coffee. Martin currently lives in Central Mexico with his wife and three children.
